The Biblical View on Ethics and the Development of History
The
Bible has long been seen as the standard for ethics and morality, even by
carnal men. In today’s age, we have many commonly used phrases such as “Do unto
others as you would have done to yourself” and “The love of money is the root
of all evil”. While just about everyone knows these sayings, or something like
them, not everyone knows that they are quotes from the Bible, or what they mean
in context with the rest of the scriptures.
This is
evidence of the fact that the moral law put forth in the Bible has been a
cornerstone of mainstream ethics in western history. This was most likely
facilitated by the spread of the Gospel in the Roman Empire and the growth of
the Christian church.
For
many people, even if they do not believe in God or follow the Christian faith,
they do know and follow many of the ethical codes that are from the Bible. Thus
has a biblical view of ethics been a standard in the development of history.
